Senior Web 2.0 Software Engineer

We are a fast growing New York City start-up focused on local search, social shopping, and peer-to-peer services. The candidate must be comfortable working in a start-up environment.

We're looking for a versatile, ninja-level programmer who's familiar with all the latest in Web 2.0 technology to work with us in-house. Experience with open source, and object-oriented closure style JavaScript is a plus!

The candidate must possess efficient time management skills, able to handle multiple deadlines, and effectively communicate and document progress. The candidate needs to be creative problem solver who works well and communicates with others to achieve team goals. The candidate must be able to immediately jump-in and work with other senior developers in improving / refactoring existing code.

Requirements

Highly proficient in the following:

  • Write amazing JavaScript, with expert-level AJAX and jQuery programming
  • Interface with NoSQL databases, like MongoDB
  • Code in C# (or Java)
  • Understand what MVC is and like design patterns
  • Full-life cycle development
  • Experience working in Agile / iterative development environments
  • Relational database design
  • Database normalization and basic optimization
  • Stored procedures / T-SQL
  • HTML5/CSS3
  • Unit Testing

Nice to have but not required:

  • ASP.NET MVC 3
  • Experience with Appcelerator is a plus+
  • Mobile app development (iOS, Android)
  • SQL Server Reporting Services
  • C experience
  • TCP/IP networking experience
  • PHP/MySQL + Wordpress

Other suggested requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  2. 5 years relevant work experience in web-development using the technologies listed above.
  3. Strong familiarity with relational databases.
  4. Must be able to debug and resolve issues quickly.
  5. Strong written and oral communication skills.
  6. Forward thinking with an understanding and an eye to scalability of the applications being developed.
