Engineering update: August 2021

In our July engineering update, we walked you through how we’ve been working to improve the way we match you to the best-fit roles. This month, we’ve been focused on the most pivotal stage of your job-seeking process: interviewing.

In our experience, clients who don’t interview, don’t hire. Hence, our commitment to getting you more face time with clients in order to land gigs you’ll love. Here’s what we’ve launched to make that happen:

More interview opportunities

To work towards our mission of getting you in front of as many clients as we can, we’ve streamlined the application process to make raising your hand for jobs you’re interested in more accessible.

When you join the platform, we make it a priority to get to know you and your employment goals to connect you with the best-fit opportunities. So, when we see a job come in that we think you’d be a really great fit for, we automatically add your profile to the candidate queue to present you to the client on your behalf. If there’s interest from the client, we’ll facilitate an introduction for an opportunity to interview– without you having to apply.

Gun.io Cantina Slack

The Gun.io Cantina Slack workspace is now open to Gunslingers that have been approved on the platform!

Faith has also made it a habit of scoping the channels for Wayfarer-worthy memes and articles shared by members.

Most importantly, this is where you’ll have a direct line to the HQ team whenever you need support, and be able to view and apply to all the open jobs we share as soon as they’re posted:

Haven’t received an invitation to the Gun.io Cantina Slack workspace yet? Sign up on Gun.io and get started on your profile. If you’ve already created an account, make sure your profile is complete to get added to the approvals queue.

DevRel team

We’ve assembled a top-notch developer relations team to actively provide feedback on your profile to help you land and make the most of those aforementioned interview opportunities.

Leading the team is, Deividi Silva, an AWS certified software architect and developer, and an experienced software development manager based in Brazil. Deividi has the technical and professional chops to get under the hood of your profile and help you set yourself up for success to get hired on engagements.

“I love creating software solutions that help people’s life. Nowadays I do that by being a manager that enables teams to fully develop their potential and have a lot of fun while doing it!”

The DevRel team is an active resource whenever you need it, so if you haven’t spoken to a member of our DevRel team, feel free to book a time or reach out to anyone from the Gun.io team via the community Slack workspace so we can give you a free audit of your profile, get it in shape for interviews, and proactively put you in front of clients.
