Team Gun.io’s favorite haunts

In lieu of Mos Eisley, here’s where you can find Team Gun.io snagging a wifi signal or unwinding after a solid day of getting developers hired. We present to you: Gun.io’s favorite haunts.

Nashville

Frothy Monkey (East or West)

  • Cafe
  • Recommended by the whole Nashville squad
    • Excellent wifi, strong coffee, and a solid breakfast menu
    • Tons of space to spread out at their East and West Nashville locations

Mother’s Ruin

  • Restaurant and bar
  • Recommended by Faith
    • Downstairs bar is always poppin’, but if you want something a bit quieter, head up the secret stairs to a dining room that overlooks pretty Germantown
    • Get the burger and a martini (which is made with purple brine)

The Belcourt

  • Activity
  • Recommended by Skyler
    • Historic theater/nonprofit film center with excellent independent, world, repertory and classic programming

Basement East

  • Music venue
  • Recommended by Victoria
    • Casual place to catch live music, and since it’s Nashville, you never know who might make a guest appearance

Patterson House

  • Bar/Speakeasy
  • Recommended by Tyler
    • One of the original hidden gems of Nashville, Patterson House is an intimate setting to grab a one-of-a-kind cocktail
    • Typically has a good stock of limited-run and/or harder-to-find bourbons

Philadelphia

Cafe La Maude

  • Restaurant
  • Recommended by Jessi
    • Best little restaurant/cafe in Philly. Lebanese-inspired brunch and lunch menu and the owners treat you like family; the Parisian ‘Za and the Green Shakshuka are possibly my favorite things I’ve eaten in my life
    • Put your name in early on the weekends and explore the neighborhood while you wait, there’s a very cute plant/flower store right next door

Evergreen, Colorado

Revival Brews

  • Bar/Restaurant
  • Recommended by Abbey
    • The rotating tap list here is one of the best in the area, the food is all handmade and incredible, and the people are absolutely wonderful
    • It’s a great place to reward yourself after a hike at Red Rocks (yes, that Red Rocks – the famous music venue) or on one of the local trails and amazing canyon roads make it a favorite stop on motorcycle rides

Chicago

Montrose Dog Beach

  • Activity
  • Submitted by Jasmine
    • I love the dog beach because it combines two of my favorite things: dogs and the beach; plus watching my dog Coco having the time of her life at Montrose Dog Beach makes my day:smiling_face_with_tear:

Brasília, Brazil

308 Sul, the model superblock

  • Activity
  • Submitted by Regis
    • I live around Brasília, the capital, which was artificially planned and built in the 50’s-60s and so the constructors have shaped this residential block as the ideal for all blocks in the city — unfortunately it ended up being the single one that was the ideal, although the others are not so far from that; it has a library, a large tree where kids can climb on, plazas, a catholic church, and is a good place for hanging around and get a picnic with the kids

Joinville, Brazil

Castelo do Monte Cafe

  • Cafe
  • Submitted by Deividi
    • A 45-minute walk from my apartment, this coffee place is perfect to sit outside and taste quality Brazilian café; everything is organic and sustainable and the vibe is perfect, especially when it’s sunny outside where you can sit down, chat with the barista and listen to some good bossa nova, blues, or whatever the owner is in the mood for that day

Barbarella’s

  • Bar
  • Submitted by Cameron
    • Barbarella’s is a bar and dance club. They have weekly theme nights and play popular music, but they avoid the cliche club songs and always play what you didn’t know you wanted to hear.
